Calimbra Wellness and Conference Hotel

The team were polite, helpful, and spoke English very well. They even looked up places to visit and things to do around the city for me. The hotel was beautiful, clean, and well organized, which made everything feel relaxing. I spent two nights at Calimbra Wellness és Konferencia Hotel and made the most of the wellness area. Breakfast was excellent, with lots of good options. I had a wonderful experience and have no doubt I’ll return.

A great spot for a family break, with roomy family suites, pools, saunas, and a playroom. The staff are warm and welcoming.

The rooms were spacious, clean, and well equipped, and breakfast was very good. The spa is why I’d take off a star: just one pool is warm, while the others are 27C, which felt too cold.

The hotel itself was satisfactory, but the service fell short of what we expected from a four-star place. It may have been an isolated case, but we ran into several problems. Our first dinner was enjoyable, with a good range of dishes, including fish. The following evening was a letdown for the vegetarian in our party. There were no vegetarian main courses, just side dishes. The chef acknowledged the problem when we spoke to him, but nothing changed. After checking with the chef, the restaurant floor manager offered potatoes and rice as a substitute, which wasn’t an acceptable dinner included in our room price. We had to ask a third time before some coated cheese was brought out. I then spoke with the restaurant manager to prevent this happening again, and was assured that mushroom-filled goat cheese would be available the next evening. On our final night we were served coated cheese again. When we raised it, the manager said we should have requested the goat cheese specifically, even though the meal was served buffet-style. We were disappointed, especially after choosing a four-star hotel with a certain level of service in mind. We hope they address these problems.
