Kristály Imperial Hotel

We were staying at the hotel for a wedding, and before the ceremony we wanted to get something to eat, especially since we had our two-year-old with us. The restaurant refused to serve us, saying it was because of the wedding. The waiter was rude, didn't speak English, and seemed annoyed that we had sat down with a child. I explained that we were hotel guests and just needed food for the child, but he told me outright we wouldn't be served. At breakfast the next day, the same waiter was unpleasant again. He tried to take plates that still had food on them and muttered something in Hungarian. The service was very poor and there was no hospitality. I don't recommend this restaurant, especially for anyone traveling with a child.

I stayed here for five days of training in Orószlany in September 2024. The location was the best option we could find, even though it was another 30 minutes from the training site. There are lots of restaurants nearby, and being able to walk to the lake was a plus. The room was quiet and comfortable, so I liked it, though parts of it could use renovation. I'd rate the rooms 5/5. Service gets 3/5. It was okay, but having come from Dubai in the Middle East, I'm used to warmer hospitality.

The only thing that bothered me was the bathroom fan, which could use a new bearing. Otherwise the bed was very comfortable, the minibar was stocked rather than just an empty fridge, and everything was clean and classy. I've traveled all over the world, and I think anyone who's traveled much would be impressed. It feels like a five-star hotel at a four-star price.

The room stayed quiet, and the staff were friendly and polite. After we complained, they offered a 5% discount at checkout. Breakfast and dinner both had a great variety of delicious food, and the central location was convenient. Still, our stay was uncomfortable, and I wouldn't return. The hotel feels somewhat outdated, the AC barely worked, and the room got unbearably hot, so we had to keep the windows open. We reported the AC problem twice, but staff couldn't fix it. The bathroom was huge but had very little useful space. There were also events on the hotel grounds during our visit, including a wedding and a brunch for people who weren't staying there, and we hadn't been told about them.
