From the street, the castle looks amazing 🙃 and the interior is beautiful, with knight’s armor. But the rooms are tiny and a little dirty. We were a large group, and only a few of the ten rooms had heating. Breakfast was basically 😱: two pieces of cheese, four slices of sausage, butter, and rolls per person.

There’s Wi-Fi, but the breakfast is weird (pictured), and at 40 euros a night I expected better. The rooms feel like a Soviet sanatorium, though it’s only a ten-minute drive from the center. My shower stall was missing a handle, the mirror was cracked with a piece broken off, there was no soap so I had to use shampoo to wash my hands, and the bathroom door wouldn’t close. There were cobwebs, maybe for the castle atmosphere. There’s a strange extra outlet up near the ceiling, perhaps in case of a flood. No hairdryer either. Nothing works at night, so they won’t feed you. If you arrive hungry, that’s your problem. The soundproofing is poor too, I could hear the neighbors upstairs talking.

The double bed felt more like a wide single than a queen-size bed, and speaking English seemed to be a problem here, just as it is for much of Budapest. The check-in staff were unfriendly. Looks can be deceiving: showering was impossible because water leaked from somewhere under the stall and flooded the bathroom.

We were seven people in single rooms. The rooms were okay, but the owners were extremely unfriendly. They only took cash, and only in Forints, which felt outdated in 2018. There was no breakfast, and the nice restaurant had no regular hours, opening whenever they felt like it. Completely unnecessary. I can only warn people away. Never again!
