Hotel Karos Spa

We enjoy coming here as a family. There’s enough for the kids to do, and we can relax at the spa and spend time together.

The staff made my stay, everyone was friendly and ready to help. The restaurant was clean and pleasant, and the food was great. Thank you so much, Karos Spa.

I’m a quiet person and don’t go looking for conflict. I stayed polite, but after so little sleep and so much running around, I didn’t have the energy to argue. I asked whether there would be any compensation and was brushed off, as though I should just be grateful for getting another room. I can’t shake the feeling they might have taken me more seriously if I’d been louder. Writing this is my way of getting it off my chest. We won’t return. The kids’ club staff spoke only Hungarian, and were cold. There was no way to communicate in English. Our first room had yellow-brown water from both the sink and the bathtub. There was no phone, so as a single parent with my 3-year-old daughter, I had to take her to reception in the other building. After some discussion, they said someone would check the next morning. The receptionist came by and dismissed my concern, saying the bathtub water was normal because of the thermal water, and we should just let the sink run for a long time. That night, a strange bathroom noise started. It sounded like a vibrating alarm, getting louder, stopping, then starting again. It was impossible to sleep because it wasn’t steady and kept me on alert. I hoped it was the heating or ventilation and would stop, but it didn’t. The next morning I had to take my daughter to reception again because there was still no phone in the room. They promised someone would come at 8 AM to check the water and noise. I waited until 9, but nobody came. So I went back to reception with my child, this time bringing the receptionist to the room and saying I couldn’t stay there. He showed me another room and said I could move, but I had to collect the key myself. Nobody offered to help with the luggage or bring the key. I packed everything, carried it and my daughter to the next floor, only to find the door locked. Then I had to go all the way back to reception in the other building for the new key. The new room was quiet, and both the sink and bathtub had perfectly clear water. That made the “thermal water” explanation seem like nonsense. This room also had a phone, so at least I could have called.

There are plenty of things for children, including a playground and toys. The spa is large enough, with several pools and different saunas. Rooms are spacious, and the staff are friendly and try to help. In winter, the hotel restaurant felt too small with the terrace closed. The food was average, though the pastries and cakes were excellent. Restaurant staff were really kind and service was quick.
