Ketut's Place Cottage Ubud

The only thing I wasn't keen on was breakfast. We ended up going out to eat afterwards. The rest was a delight: a beautiful Balinese cottage with lovely carvings, surrounded by plants. It was clean and the air conditioning worked well. When the airport lost our bags, the staff were really helpful in trying to get them back.

I’m here now, and being at this peaceful little B&B in the heart of Ubud has made my first Bali trip such a pleasure. The staff are kind and hospitable, and everything is clean. Geckos and other critters do show up now and then, but we’re in Indonesia, surrounded by nature. Ubud Centre is walkable, and Ketut can arrange local drivers at an affordable rate. Breakfast is included every day, with lots of choices. The front desk can also help with day trips, on-site massages, and the Kekak fire dance on Sunday/Thursday. The traditional Balinese culture and experiences are woven through the place. I recommend staying here to everyone I know, and we'll be back.

The staff were very kind, and the location worked well for tourism, but the rooms were disappointing and the place felt rough around the edges. We moved between locations because there was a problem with our original room, which was a shame since we'd chosen the property for its location. When we returned the next day, the room we got was much smaller than the one shown in the online photos. It had a broken mosquito net, lots of cobwebs and bugs, and several windows had no curtains, so it was too bright in the morning. The staff kindly moved us again for our final two nights. That room was dusty too, had cobwebs, and smelled damp. Breakfast arrived 30 minutes after the time we had selected.

We spent three nights at Ketut’s place on our first stop in Bali. The family who own it were so nice, and the atmosphere was quiet and welcoming.
