MaxOneHotels at Bukit Jimbaran

The room was comfortable and the shower was good. I enjoyed my stay at MaxOne and extended it a few times because of the location and the lovely rooftop view. Erlanggan at the front desk was friendly, and Gede worked hard cleaning the rooms. All the employees smiled whenever they saw me.

We had several unpleasant experiences here, and I strongly advise people not to stay at this hotel. At check-in, our room had a leaking air conditioner. When we asked to move, receptionist Reza said we had already agreed to take that room, even though we hadn’t seen it yet. Staff should have known not to assign a room with a leak. We also called reception to ask if we could change the towels. We were told yes, with no mention of a fee. Later that night, a female receptionist said it would cost Rp 20,000. We were confused because we’d already been told it was allowed. After we explained, she said someone would bring the towels. Reza came again, but argued with us instead of handing them over, insisting he’d never said it was free. He was rude and unprofessional, showed no respect, and even asked for my personal name, which felt completely inappropriate. Then at breakfast, I asked a male trainee to put water and ice in my bottle. He only gave me ice and told me I could fill it from the breakfast area display. When I tried, a female staff member scolded me and said filling water wasn’t allowed. I was confused, since I’d just followed another staff member’s directions. The service was poor, staff communication was muddled, and the behavior we experienced was extremely unprofessional.

The elevator wasn't working when we left, so we had to haul our luggage down the stairs. The hotel faces a very busy road, which makes arriving and leaving a traffic-filled hassle. Our first room reeked of damp and mildew, and although we asked to move, we waited 45 minutes for the new key. The second room was better, but the bathroom and linens still smelled awful. This was my worst travel stay in a long time. I wouldn't recommend it.

For around IDR 400k, it’s a reasonable budget stay, and the room was comfortable for our one night. Breakfast finishes at 10 am, and the popular dishes can run out fast. The flavors were a bit bland, and some bathroom areas could use better upkeep.
