Puri Dajuma Terrace Eco Lodge Spa

The staff were so warm and kind, and went out of their way to help us with our 9-month-old baby. We’re already planning another relaxing stay as soon as we can. We stayed in one of the Joglo rooms, which felt grand and open while still being homely and practical. The view when we woke up was perfect, and the pool was lovely and relaxing. The place somehow looks even more beautiful in person than in its already gorgeous photos. I can’t imagine finding a better hotel. The food was excellent, with plenty of vegetarian choices. Breakfast was made to order, and we could choose as much as we wanted from a good menu. Prices were reasonable for such a lovely, remote place. I don’t know how this is only a four-star hotel. Our stay was definitely five-star, or better.

Away from the tourist areas, Dajuma terrace has just 14 rooms and more than 50 employees. The staff are all local and highly trained in their areas of hospitality, and the villas are extraordinary, even compared with high-end hotel brands. The surrounding countryside and hikes were spectacular. I’m no Bali expert, but other guests who knew the island better said these terraces were much nicer than better-known ones. The setting also brought back memories of a special hotel we found in Costa Rica, in the less-visited Rio Celeste area. For us, this is what true luxury means: privacy, time, and distinctive experiences that leave you deeply satisfied, beyond opulence alone. If you want to connect with nature and culture in Bali’s forest and mountain landscape, away from tourist crowds, I can’t think of a better choice. The hotel restaurant and bar more than make up for the shortage of restaurants nearby, and the cooks, waiters, and cocktail makers are all highly trained. We also traveled through Bali’s tourist areas during our holiday. Without our days at Dajuma, the trip would have felt less profound, less luxurious, and less authentic.

I had yoga nearly every day, and really recommend it. Practicing in that humidity hits differently, and my muscles felt more flexible. Rika was the best massage therapist! It was my first time in Bali, and I booked my holiday at the last minute. I’m so glad I found this place. The room was comfortable and private, tucked among greenery, the staff were friendly and helped with everything, and the quiet area and rice-field view felt magical. I’m already looking forward to coming back!

We stayed at Puri Dajuma for five days, and the peaceful natural setting was just right for relaxing and recharging.
