Potato Head Suites

I wasn't sure what to expect at first, but after four nights I understand why Potato Head ranks among the world's top hotels. It feels like a creative village, with striking architecture and design, music, a beach club and a relaxed atmosphere. There was always something going on, yet the place still felt peaceful and inspiring. We found the rooms stylish and comfortable, and the food was very good. Service varied a little depending on the time or team member, but everyone we dealt with was friendly and helpful. I loved the simple routine of getting coffee in the morning and watching the sunset by the beach with music in the background. It felt special. We truly enjoyed our stay and will come back next time we're in Bali. A good choice if you're after a place with a great feel, as well as somewhere to sleep.

I don't often leave reviews, but our January stay at Desa Potato Head really stayed with me. My flight was delayed and I didn't reach Denpasar until 11pm, well after my expected arrival. Our greeter was still there, wonderfully kind, and took us straight to a spotless, air-conditioned car arranged through the hotel's transport service. For the same total I would pay for a 15-minute Uber in Australia, we got cold brew, ice water, a phone charger and even snacks. I stayed in the Skyview Sanctuary and would recommend it to anyone who likes design, comfort and lots of amenities. The online photos don't quite show how spacious it is. Even with about 30-degree heat and serious humidity outside, the room was spotless and perfectly cool. I've stayed at Nomad London and Mondrian HK recently, and this room was cleaner than either. The free minibar and cocktail station were fantastic. I was amazed to hear that the ice and drinking water are recycled from ocean water. They weren't at all stingy with water either: after I came back from the pool, there were 3L waiting in the room. The food was spectacular. I especially liked an evening meal at Dome, with natural wine and beautiful dishes, and the delicious plant-based food at Tanaman. Breakfast gave us the best of both worlds: all you can eat from an à la carte menu, with no extra charges creeping in. A few times we remarked on how smoothly the team gave us room to relax while being right there to help the moment we thought about ordering another drink. The spa and gym were another great part of the stay. The spa was so accommodating. I went down early hoping to book a massage for the next day, based on my experience booking at other spas outside Bali, but they offered to treat me right then or at least four other times that day. I'd return in a heartbeat and have recommended the hotel to all my friends. I can see why it's ranked so highly among the World's Best Hotels.

We've stayed at Desa Potato Head three times now, and each visit has shown us again how special it is. The atmosphere is creative and relaxed, and the welcome feels genuine without becoming too much. The architecture is stunning, the rooms are thoughtfully done, and the gym, spa and dining options are all excellent. The poolside snacks are a particular highlight. Staff have been warm, attentive and thoughtful every time, making each stay easy and enjoyable. We also love being right on the beach but tucked away from the main road, so it feels calm while still being close to everything. The sunsets alone make the stay worthwhile. We'll happily keep coming back.

I celebrated my birthday at Desa Potato Head Bali and loved the whole stay. The room was comfortable and beautifully designed, with thoughtful details that made waking up there feel special. Breakfast was delicious, high quality and a lovely way to start the day. Everyone was so warm and helpful.
