Taman Harum Cottage

We rented a scooter, so getting around from this well-located hotel was easy. The rooms were nice, and inside it felt warm and welcoming, almost like a piece of jungle. The restaurant is high quality and presents its food beautifully. I stayed five days and was very satisfied.

The outside of the hotel is beautiful, but the rooms are very old, the bathrooms are horrible, and the furniture, including the beds and chairs, is flimsy and awful. The taps had no water half the time, and reception didn’t fix it despite several calls. The sink and bathtub also had drainage problems, and there were insects and mosquitoes in the rooms. They gave us a faulty hair dryer. Staff didn’t understand English at all, so Google Translate mostly saved us. Please don’t spend your money here. There are plenty of much better hotels all over Ubud.

We stayed four nights in a Deluxe Room with a king bed and garden view, with breakfast included. The room was spacious, the bed and bedding were great, and the air conditioning worked well. The property has Balinese architecture, so some sockets and switches are placed differently, but we had no issues. There was an unusual separate room with a TV, perhaps meant as a walk-in closet or extra room. It seemed odd to put the TV there, but may be part of the architecture. We loved the lush garden, the clean pool, and the ample space for a work staycation. The huge bathroom was neat and clean, with a bathtub and separate shower. Its view felt like being surrounded by nature while still having all the amenities. Every staff member we met was polite, capable, and ready to help. Housekeeping and room service were decent and up to standard, and we were satisfied. There’s good parking space. Breakfast had vegetarian and non-vegetarian options, plus coffee, tea, juice, and fruit salad. You could choose a fixed Indonesian or English breakfast menu, and it was a great way to start the day. In my opinion, visit this property. It’s about 6-7km from Ubud Palace, making it a quiet, pleasant place to stay. There are good cafes nearby, as well as a Mart and Pt. Money Changer. You can walk around and enjoy the scenic views, and the staff are courteous and helpful. There are delicious food options and decent eateries too. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and recommend it.

The food was better than I expected, and the service was excellent. I stayed for five nights and found the property well looked after, with friendly, helpful employees throughout. I had a delightful time and would gladly recommend the hotel.
