The Banyumas Residence

The place looked nothing like its online photos, and cleaning was poor. Sheets were stained and didn’t seem to be changed properly, and my friend in another room also confirmed that the rooms smelled bad. Staff barely spoke English, were often rude, and weren’t helpful. When a lizard got into my room because the door was left open during “cleaning,” I asked for help. They looked for five seconds and left, then later claimed they’d removed it when they clearly hadn’t. The food was disappointing too, with frozen onion rings, raw chicken, and generally mid-quality dishes. WiFi didn’t work in the rooms, so this isn’t suitable if you need to work or study. When I complained, they said “the guy to fix it is not in town.” I later saw that reviews from a year earlier had already reported the same issue, so it clearly hadn’t been fixed. They also advertised free airport transport, but we had to pay ourselves. Between the unclean rooms, dishonest handling, poor WiFi, rude staff, and broken promise about transport, I wouldn’t recommend staying here, especially for work or a long visit.

With some maintenance and much better cleaning, this could be a nice place, especially since the rooms can sleep a family of four. But the bedding was stained, and the rooms need a deep clean. The sheets could use some bleaching.

It’s quiet and well located, with plenty of food options around the villas. The villas work well for a family holiday, though there’s only one small bathroom. There’s also a little kitchen area for reheating food. I didn’t try the villa’s food, but it seemed affordable and good. Room prices were very reasonable, and we had a great experience.

The staff and management made our stay especially pleasant. Everyone was friendly, helpful, and willing to sort out questions or concerns. The grounds felt peaceful, and other guests were considerate. The villas are beautiful, though the villas themselves could use some improvements. A lovely little piece of paradise.
