Labersa Hotel & Convention Centre Toba

We received waterpark vouchers, but the pool looked green, so we didn't feel safe going in. The rooms are quite dated, though this may be the best hotel in Balige. The carpet seems not to have been changed for years, and the interior needs a serious refresh. The bathroom floor also gets dangerously slippery in the shower because it isn't tiled with natural stone.

The room was generously sized and had a city view, but the bathroom was untidy and the rooftop bar smelled of urine. I noticed that at 10 a.m., after breakfast, and it was really unpleasant. The air conditioner was dusty and very noisy, and I couldn't find the bellboy. Reception felt unfriendly, and when I needed help at breakfast, the staff were chatting by the cashier counter instead. I can't complain about everything, but for a four-star hotel, this old building feels worn out. I understand local traditions may be different, but it seemed nobody wanted to help guests. I hope management responds, unless the hotel only caters to locals who aren't concerned about hygiene.

Guests pay a high rate to use the facilities, so finding the pool still dirty with algae after I reported it twice was very disappointing. I was there over the Christmas holiday to relax and enjoy Lake Toba. I told a restaurant staff member about the pool before breakfast, then returned later to check, but nothing had changed. When I asked again, the staff called someone who seemed to be the supervisor. At the pool, the supervisor said they were short-staffed for the holiday. I told them that wasn't an acceptable excuse.

The lake view is lovely, and the rooms are clean and comfortable. Some have balconies. Service was very good and made the stay comfortable. The food costs a bit more, but it tastes good and is clean; there are plenty of breakfast options as well as other meal packages. One of the best hotels around Toba and Balige. I'd recommend it for a stay, training, or a meeting. Thank you.
