The lobby smelled so strongly of cigarette smoke when I went in to check a room and ask about the walk-in price. I’ve often noticed cigarette smells in hotels here, possibly from staff smoking in staff rooms or from guests, with the smell spreading through the building. But this was like a tobacco farm was being burned to the ground. Such a shame.

A simple, old place, but the rooms were very clean and well furnished, and the online rate was good value. Cheap street food is an easy walk away, and the Great Mosque is about 15 minutes on foot.

The hotel and its facilities are old, but the rooms are spacious and clean, and the price was good. We tried a few hotels and couldn’t find similar quality for that price range. The staff were among the friendliest we met. Tip: run the hot water for 10 minutes in the evening to get it warm in the bathroom. It takes a while to heat up, unless it’s morning.

The location is handy for finding food at night and visiting nearby historical religious sites, and the breakfast was nice. Hot water is provided too. There’s a connecting door between the two single-bed rooms, which is a nice feature if you’re staying with family or friends. Good service for the price.
