Hotel Victory Bandung

The bedsheet was clean, but the room felt old and smelled musty, and every time we came in there was a toilet smell. The furniture was old too. The AC stayed extremely cold even when we set it to 25, while the hot water took ages and never got very hot. It needs a lot of renovation. We booked a family room upstairs, and there’s no elevator, so getting up the stairs was hard for my 83-year-old mother. We were travelling with her and had a 4.40 pm flight, but when we asked to check out at 2 pm, they refused. The latest checkout was 1 pm, whatever the circumstances. Lucky we were only there for one night.

The room was big, but that was about the only plus. I may just have been unlucky, but I paid around 500 thousand rupiah a night for a deluxe room and found the bathroom dirty, the towel not clean, and only one glass in the bathroom. I told the receptionist when they offered to make up the room, yet the towel was still dirty afterward. The AC was noisy, the bed cover had dirty spots and felt itchy, the wifi was bad, and there were lots of mosquitoes. The staff weren’t very friendly either, no smile at check-in or welcome greeting.

We stayed one night and breakfast was brought to our room. Without traffic, it’s about 5 minutes from Bandung airport. The hotel car can take you to the airport for IDR 30K, or USD 2.5, which was really helpful.

The Victor Harbor Hotel’s lunch buffet is really good value, with plenty of meat, salad, and vegetable choices.
