Aston Inn Gideon Batam Hotel

The food was a bright spot during my first iftar at Aston Inn Gideon Batam last Ramadan. There was a good range of dishes as promised, and most tasted good. I also saw a group of men seated by the bar, apparently because the iftar space was full, and they seemed uncomfortable with the crowd too. I’d reserved on March 5th for March 13th, but was first given a table near the entrance, with people constantly passing by. It felt like too many guests had been squeezed into the area. They initially said seating was based on reservation order. After I asked again how early I’d booked and explained my concern, they moved me inside, though that area was shared with a corporate group. The situation had already affected the mood during the fasting month, so I didn’t stay longer after dinner. There wasn’t an apology or any gesture about the inconvenience. The food was enjoyable, but table assignments and managing guests during the busy iftar hours need work.

Miss Dara at the Front Desk made a particularly good impression. She helped us check in smoothly, and her warm smile and professional manner stood out. From the time we arrived, the whole team was welcoming, courteous, and attentive, and they went out of their way to make our stay comfortable and easy.

The front desk team were especially helpful and responsive from check-in, and I felt like a valued guest. The room was clean and comfortable, the facilities were complete, and the hotel had a welcoming feel. Its location is pretty strategic too. I was very satisfied and would choose this hotel again if I return to the area. Thanks for the service, Mr. Arya and Mrs. Tiara 😊

The room was comfortable and as expected, and the service overall felt around four-star level. Breakfast was a letdown, though. Many dishes were too salty and the food quality didn’t meet expectations. I also saw a male staff member drop a spoon while cleaning cutlery, then put it back with the clean utensils. When he realized I’d seen it, he walked off without saying anything. That raised serious concerns for me about hygiene and food safety. While I was talking it over with my friends, a female staff member interrupted our private conversation, which felt intrusive and unprofessional. During the self-service buffet, another staff member asked us to leave a Google review and specifically mention her name. I didn’t think that was appropriate when there’d been no direct service to explain the request. The room itself was good, but breakfast and staff conduct need attention. I hope the hotel takes this seriously and improves food quality, hygiene training, and how staff interact with guests.
