Urbanview Botania Meeting Point Batam by RedDoorz

There are plenty of small eateries and stalls nearby for local snacks, plus a convenience store and wet market on the street corner. Urbanview Meeting Point also has a cafe in the homestay, serving tasty local food, including Rendang and Steamed Fish if you pre-order. It was easy to check in, and my room was clean, so it worked well as a place to sleep after visiting places of interest in Batam. They have 20+ rooms for different needs, whether you’re travelling as a couple or with family. I had a great experience there. If you want to see how locals live, this is a good place to stay.

For the price, the service makes this really worth it. I even got Fried Rice for free 😁

The staff have stayed friendly and helpful across my visits, still the strongest point here. The bed is comfortable, there’s a proper desk for working, and the Wi-Fi was reliable. The quiet street directly behind KFC in Nongsa is pleasant and away from the main road, with lots of food options nearby. But getting there for the first time can be a real hassle. The listed number reaches a recording, and Grab drivers often struggle to find it. Once you know the landmark it’s easier, but look up the route beforehand and allow extra time. There was dust behind the curtains. A drying rack would also be useful, especially for budget travellers. On an earlier visit breakfast was included, basic but available. This time it was gone with no substitute, a real downgrade for people travelling on a budget. The first room had a leaking toilet. After I moved, mosquitoes in the second room made for an uncomfortable night. Those are basic maintenance and habitability problems that need fixing. What used to be a decent budget stay in a peaceful spot has slipped. The staff and quiet location still count in its favour, but the breakfast change, maintenance trouble, and pests made this visit disappointing. My rating is down from 3.5 to 2/5, and it’s hard to recommend without major caveats.

The people here are friendly, and the service is something I liked. My favorite spot is the 4th floor, where there’s an outdoor area to sit and relax. The mattress is soft and comfortable, too. At 280 per night, I think it’s worth the price. Next time I’m in Batam, I want to stay here again 🤭
