Wyndham Panbil Batam

Our room was lovely and spacious, with a nice view, and I enjoyed it, though we didn’t use the free afternoon tea voucher. The bed was fine. The shower was a rain shower, with a handheld showerhead by the bathtub. Breakfast was okay, and the self-service juice station and steak were highlights. It got busy over the holidays and weekend, as we were there on New Year’s Eve. The staff who greeted us at the door were very welcoming, but the front desk wasn’t as friendly. They photocopy passports, a practice I’ve seen visitors raise concerns about. Perhaps management should review it, as I don’t think hotels do this anymore. The lobby smelled like hair dye chemicals, which I really didn’t like. It’s a big, somewhat outdated hotel, quite far from the city center, so the drive takes a while.

The staff were the best part of our stay. In the mornings they greeted us warmly as we headed out shopping, and in the evenings they were just as welcoming when we got back. We really appreciated their kindness and hospitality. On our last day, the breakfast team went out of their way to make breakfast work for our family of 7. Juang, I hope I’ve got the spelling right, made special arrangements even though it was a crowded morning and made sure we had what we needed. They also brought a lovely special dessert to our table. We loved staying here, and are very grateful for how friendly and helpful everyone was. Thank you! ❤️

We had an enjoyable stay, and the room was spacious with a gorgeous lake view for my husband and me. The amenities were enough, and the minibar drinks were free. Staff were friendly, approachable and did their best to help. We asked for a 1pm late checkout. We chose the hotel for its proximity to Panbil nature reserve. It’s about a 20-minute walk past Panbil Villas, or you can take the Panbil shuttle. We enjoyed the Semar hike and feeding the deer at the reserve sanctuary with Haggai, our guide. There’s also a mini zoo with peacocks, birds and spotted deer. Nearby, Edelweiss is a well-stocked minimart, and there’s a food stall serving tasty, cheap bakso and fried noodles, though it’s closed on Sundays. The city center is a bit far, but taxis are easy to book at the hotel, and there’s a shuttle to Grand Batam, BCS mall and other malls if booked in advance. The hotel breakfast buffet was good. The Infinity pool on level 2 was relaxing, and the rooftop bar on the 15 floor has cocktails and a great view of the lake and Batam area. Music is only on weekends. Arirang korean and japanese restaurant serves delicious, fairly authentic food. It’s at Pandil Residences, next to Wyndham Pandil, and you can get there through the restaurant where buffet breakfast is served. Thanks, Wyndham Panbil!

The place has a warm atmosphere, and the staff were consistently attentive, professional and ready to help. Their English was excellent, which made communication smooth throughout my stay. The overall feel was a class above the other four- and five-star hotels I’ve stayed at in Batam. Chef Ahmad Fauzan, Nabila and Rida deserve a special mention for being so friendly and going the extra mile whenever I had a request. I’d recommend it to anyone after comfort, good service and a welcoming stay in Batam.
