Hotel Filadelfia

I booked a single large bed and got two large beds instead. Really, two large beds! The room was clean and good, and the toilet was very good, with a working heater and a bath tube. The hotel is near alun-alun, and I paid around 550k during Lebaran, which felt fair enough. There wasn't much food choice, and there's no passenger lift. The room had no balcony, but you can see the scenery from the upper floor around the stair.

After three nights, I'd say the location is very convenient, close to tourist attractions in batu, with an alfamart right next door. The old building has a classical, retro feel that can get creepy at night. Staff were friendly and the service was excellent apart from breakfast, and the room cleanup was tidy. For Rp. 500-800k/night, you could probably find a more modern hotel with better facilities, though this place was decent enough for an enjoyable stay. Breakfast was poor, with few choices and weak quality control and management. Tea ran out and wasn't refilled until we told the staff; lots of things were gone and nobody replenished them. The food was hit or miss, good one day and bland the next. The balcony/back door connects to other rooms, so strangers could sit just outside my room, talking loudly and smoking. It smelled, and there was ash left around. There's no elevator in this four-story building, though staff will carry your luggage. Going out or down for breakfast was tiring, and it's not good for elderly guests. The shower handle was rusty and hard to move, with no indication of where the hot water setting was. You had to leave the water running while turned left for 5-7 minutes before it got hot, which takes a long time and wastes water. The toilet flush was incredibly noisy, especially inconvenient at night. Attached is a picture of the open balcony.

There are several room choices and the rates aren't too high. The hotel is nice and clean, and the room was clean and nice, with hot water available. Breakfast is available too. If you're staying on the third or fourth floor, though, stairs are the only way up because there isn't an elevator.

This was our second meeting at the hotel. It's quite convenient despite a few little things. The balcony has a swing door connecting to the next room. Staff were helpful and polite, and I'd recommend the place.
