Pohon Inn Hotel

I liked the interior design and the surroundings, and the puppet animals in the restaurant were a fun touch. It felt comfortable and well suited for a family stay. Sadly, my kids weren’t with me this time. I hope to come back with them one day.

The scenery and setting are lovely. We’d recommend staying two nights so you have time to explore the nearby zoos.

Breakfast was pretty nice, and the room rate includes breakfast for two plus a 15% Zoo discount, which I think is worth it. The view looks out over the Batu Secret Zoo, though it isn’t especially quiet with a zoo right in front. Service was amazing, and the price landed somewhere between cheap and expensive for one night. Pohon inn is a great experience if you want to stay beside a Zoo. Jatim Park 2 was nice too, with lots of animals.

The location really sells it. If you’re going to Batu Secret Zoo, the hotel is right by the entrance to both the zoo and the Eco park. We could see into the Zoo from our room, including bears and otters in the late afternoon, with the mountain behind them. The staff were helpful, and the restaurant downstairs was cheerful, with glass views into the zoo. We ate there and really liked it. Room service the second night was awful, though, so it was very hit and miss. The room looked modern, spacious, and lovely. The bed linen and bedroom floor were clean, but the bathroom wasn’t: brown stains in the shower, marks on the glass, and a generally dirty feel. There was mould on the bedroom curtains, and the coffee cups hadn’t been washed. You can also hear activity in the hallways, so it’s a noisy hotel. Would I recommend it? Yes, for a night or two, as long as you don’t expect too much.
