Bahamas Hotel & Resort

A nightmare. Dangerous, hellish. I booked this hotel in a rush because my flight arrived late, and I regret not checking its current condition first. I was astonished that it seemed able to keep operating with health and building department approval. I believe 99% of the rooms have flooding, structural problems, and a strong mold smell. My room had mosquitoes and bedbugs (see pictures), and deteriorating walls with peeling plaster that felt dangerous. The coffee maker gave off a foul burning smell after I filled and plugged it in. It hadn't shut off automatically, its wires were melting, and steam burned my hand. That seems like a serious fire hazard. Bedbugs and mosquitoes tormented me through the night and made sleep impossible. The bedding and pillowcases looked questionable, and I couldn't tell when they'd last been washed. The bathroom floor had mildew and mold, suggesting serious neglect. A club next door blasted noise so loudly the walls vibrated. The front desk brushed it off as karaoke. At 1:30 AM it was still intolerable. When I asked the club to turn it down, they ignored me and made it louder. Security tried to intimidate me. I saw a group in a back room who seemed to be involved in illicit activities, and they retreated when I protested. I begged hotel staff to move me. The young attendant seemed inexperienced and said there were no rooms available. Not until 2:30 AM did they reluctantly offer a different room. It was only slightly quieter and still had pests. With no sleep and growing fury, I checked other parts of the hotel. I found structural damage, mold, bedbugs, mosquitoes, and hazardous materials such as asbestos and lead. In my view, the building needs demolition instead of housing guests, and only three rooms seemed serviceable. It's a disgrace this place is allowed to operate. Anyone considering this hotel in Belitung should read the critical Google reviews carefully first.
