Airy Jimbaran Nuansa Timur Tujuh Belas 2 Bali

We’d just returned from our Bali vacation. This Airy - airbnb was our first stop, and when we arrived, we couldn’t believe it was the same place as in the pictures. We were traveling with our disabled son, and the many steep, narrow stairs in the dark, damp place were a serious problem. He needs help going up and down stairs and was scared to use them because they felt dangerous and had no railing. The top bedroom’s AC didn’t work, it was overheated, and there were no sheets. Lighting was poor, with many bulbs missing, and the doorways were so low that it felt easy to hit your head. The step out of the top bedroom went straight to the stairwell, and half the doorway had no platform, so there was a risk of falling down the stairs. The advertised pool was dirty and unusable. In weather over 35C and humid 95%, the attic room wasn’t livable without AC. Its windows weren’t insulated, and you could see through the wall. The whole cabin, not a hotel, sits right on a busy, noisy street. We called the airbnb host, who didn’t speak English and hung up because her kids were screaming in the background. She didn’t call back. The woman there to welcome us also knew no English. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone, maybe a single budget backpacker, but definitely not families.

A really nice room for a very cheap price.

The plumbing and shower barely work, and mice run through the place. In the rooms beneath the roof, huge monitor lizards leave droppings that land on your things. The pool smells bad and looks dirty. Rain comes through the roof and soaks belongings, while the floors are left dusty and dirty, with black hair around. Cleaning is awful, and the hostess is nasty and mean. She can't get anything sorted out.

Rats come through the kitchen at night, and ants in one of the kitchen chairs bit me all over during breakfast. The itching lasted a week, so I had to get medicine at a pharmacy. Large lizards are on the ceiling too, leaving droppings on my clothes, the floor, and the sofa. The pool has been murky and green for two months. Two dogs roam the property and peed in it. When we raised the unsanitary conditions, the owner ignored us and said the pool was broken. They still couldn't get it clear after two months. Rain repeatedly leaks through the roof. A repairman tried to fix it, but it kept happening throughout the two months we were there. Everything in the closet got soaked, even the bag we arrived with. Our drone was in a bag in there, and only its waterproofing saved it. The room roof leaked too, but my work laptop was inside its bag. The shower pressure is so weak you can't swim. The furniture is old.
