Baratha Hotel & Resto

We booked two rooms and checked in on Christmas Day, Dec 25, 2025, for an Ijen Crater trip. I fell ill and stayed behind while my friends left for the tour at around 11:30 PM. As I rested alone, a hotel staff member suddenly came into my room without knocking. I jumped up and shouted, “Why are you opening my room?” He looked shocked, apparently thinking the room was empty. After that, I felt unsafe and barricaded the door with my belongings. I couldn’t sleep the rest of the night. The next morning I asked the front desk why someone would enter in the middle of the night. The receptionist casually said, “He wanted to replace the linens.” That explanation was unacceptable. Who does room service at midnight when guests haven’t checked out? No one took the issue to management or came to apologize. My friends had to push to raise a complaint. Only after we spoke with the supervisor and assistant manager did we get an apology letter and confirmation that the staff member had received a warning. The experience was traumatic and completely unacceptable. We strongly suspect the staff member entered because he thought the room was empty, possibly with ill intentions. If that was the case, we hope justice prevails. The hotel might seem reasonable for the price, and the restaurant service is good, but I absolutely can’t recommend it for safety. No traveler should have their privacy and security violated like this.

We picked this place for our Ijen trip, and it was a good spot. The food selection was good, the bathroom was nice, and the rooms were clean. I’d recommend it if you’re looking for a nearby hotel.

Our tour picked this hotel for a stop before Ijen, and it worked out well. The decor is nice, the room was clean, and there’s a restaurant and massage on-site. Room amenities were simple but adequate.

It’s a little off the beaten path, but quite peaceful. The room was huge, with a wooden design that felt a bit outdated. Water pressure was good, though the AC wasn’t very cold, and the lighting was much too dim. The TV turned on, but I couldn’t get any channels to work. I didn’t see a mini fridge, but they did provide complimentary water. Restaurant food was average and too sweet for my taste, though reasonably priced. The staff were friendly. We stayed briefly before heading to Mt. Ijen at 12 midnight.
