Watu Agung Guest House

The room itself was in poor shape: the towels were extremely old and stained, and the sheets were in similar condition. We were glad we'd brought our own towels. The bathroom door was so low my partner hit his head on it a couple of times, and the side glass panel and windows had no coverings, so light came in at night. The walls and door were so thin we could hear everything outside. Other guests smoked and sang just outside our room until after 11 pm, and a mosque next door broadcast prayers at 4-5 am. When I asked the front desk to get the other guests to quiet down, nothing was done. This was the worst place we stayed in all of Indonesia. The Agoda photos made it look deceptively nice, and the reviews were excellent, so don't trust them. If you're deciding based on other travelers' reviews, take this as a warning and book somewhere else.

The guesthouse is in a great spot, since you can walk straight to Borobudur temple. I went during high season, though, and the price felt steep for this kind of place. My room was quite dark, and stains on the bed and towel made it uncomfortable. I'd be more satisfied if they paid closer attention to hygiene. Aside from that, I was fairly satisfied and would recommend it to someone who can't find a better place near the temple.

I've stayed at this hotel twice now. The service is nice, and the price is affordable, making it a comfortable place to rest. It's right in front of Borobudur. There's no breakfast or restaurant, but lots of nearby street food to try. I'd highly recommend it for backpackers.

The bed and bathroom were clean, and the breakfast was delicious, even though the menu selection was a little short. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and there's a convenience store close by. This is a lovely bed and breakfast near Borobudur temple. If you want to catch the sunrise or sunset there, just let the hotel staff know and they'll book tickets and transport for you.
