Kaja Villa

Yoga and his dad Made are local owners who really try to make the stay special. They have thoughtful extras like toothbrushes and mineral water in a reusable bottle, and you can rent a scooter from Yoga to get around easily. The location is great, the property feels wonderfully private and romantic, and we felt like we had the place to ourselves. We stayed in the deluxe villa and recommend it. The views are next level, the massage was fantastic, and the beds were comfortable with luxurious linen. Breakfasts were fresh, delicious, and generous. We love this magical villa and will be back.

The owner and staff were polite and kind, but after ten days, nine nights with my wife, I left stressed and disappointed. We had water and electricity problems nearly every day, and the owners’ repeated promises to fix them changed nothing. I spent more time reporting problems than enjoying time with my wife, and got excuses instead of solutions. I’ve traveled to almost every country and been to Bali many times, but this was a poor experience. I hope the review helps. There was no running water three or four times a day throughout the stay. On four occasions I was left with shampoo in my hair, waiting for the water to come back so I could rinse. The power went out five times too, including one nighttime outage that lasted 55 minutes and left us in complete darkness. Breakfast was very poor. The menu had bread, rice, noodles, eggs, and pancakes, but the bread wasn’t fresh. Housekeeping was poor as well: towels weren’t changed, the floor wasn’t swept, and bins weren’t emptied unless I asked for fresh towels every day. Given all these problems, I don’t think the owners were ready to host guests.

The villas are lovely and private, in a peaceful rural spot outside Ubud. Staff were helpful, and while there’s no restaurant on site, there’s an excellent one just a two-minute walk away.

Our room was airy, spacious, comfortable, and tastefully furnished. The bathroom especially impressed us: it was huge, with a great walk-in shower and a separate soaking tub. Outside, everything felt private, with our own pool, loungers, outdoor bed, dining area, and living room. The accommodations are outstanding, and the people were prompt and helpful whenever we had a small request. We were also able to trust our host to connect us with a great tour guide, which may have been the best part. We were lucky to have this fabulous place recommended to us, and hope we can return one day.
