The staff were kind, always smiling, and clearly trying their best, and breakfast was simple but really tasty with good local flavors. Still, they didn’t understand our requests, and there was no English speaker. The dirty rooms and poor facilities made this a two-star stay for me, despite the helpful people and food. Everything in the room looked stained, from the bedsheets and pillows to the towels, and it seemed like the stains couldn’t be removed. The toilet floor felt grimy and was slippery, so walking barefoot was uncomfortable. There’s only one lift and it’s very slow. Otherwise, it’s stairs, which isn’t elderly-friendly or suitable for older family members or anyone with mobility issues. This was the worst hotel experience I’ve had in Padang, and I definitely wouldn’t return unless there were major improvements.

The location gets 5 out of 5 from me, super strategic, and the staff were helpful, accommodating, and hospitable, also 5 out of 5. My deluxe room, the newly renovated one, gets a 5 too. I didn’t try any of their F&B offerings. I had a pleasant stay and am thinking of coming back.

The room was huge and the location superb, though the lift was super slow. Still, I had a bad stay because I was disturbed by paranormal things. I’d slid the curtain shut before sleeping, but the next day it was wide open. At 2am I woke up because the room felt hot at 25 cel. I used my phone light to lower the setting to 21, but it still felt hot. When I checked again, it was shockingly still showing 25! There were nonstop footsteps going along the corridor from one end to the other. Who was walking around at 2am in the morning? Maybe it just wasn’t my day while I was there. Hopefully the hotel can keep opening quran recital every night.

Jam Gadang is close by, and it’s only about a 200-meter walk to the Japanese Tunnel and Panorama Ngarai Si Anok. Getting around from here is easy, which is probably why lots of tourists stay here. The café, room, bathroom, and service were all fine. A nice hotel.
