Meditasi Bungalows & Villas

We stayed in the Superior Suite at Hotel Meditasi, and falling asleep to the waves felt like our own private wave therapy. The suite was spotless and well looked after, with a wonderfully peaceful atmosphere. The huge balcony had a comfortable lounge area and dining table, so we could eat while taking in the scenery. The room was bright, spacious, and beautifully designed, with striking views of the sea and mountains. There was plenty of lockable storage, and the air conditioning worked flawlessly. The bathroom had a generous shower with dependable hot water, and there were plenty of both beach and shower towels for each guest. A large fridge was stocked ahead of time, and there was a kettle for tea, coffee, or just hot water. The hotel’s location makes it easy to snorkel right out front, and gear is available to borrow. The food was excellent, with delicious meals brought straight to our balcony each morning and afternoon, always with a smile. Mate, the host, made this stay stand out with his care and service. When he noticed my shoes were breaking, he bought glue and fixed them himself, refusing any payment. His attention and kindness are rare. He also speaks excellent English, so communication was easy. The Superior Suite was worth every cent and more. A real hidden gem in Amed, highly recommended.

For three days in a row, loud music from nearby played from late morning until 10 at night, with bass that carried through my room. There was ceremony music, disco, what sounded like rap, karaoke, and more. I booked eight nights through booking.com, trusting the positive reviews and its trusted partner status, but I left after just three. I had picked this place because reviews described it as quiet and peaceful. The staff didn’t mention the ceremony, even though hotel staff attended it. That felt very misleading. When I asked to be refunded for the remaining four nights, the manager said sorry but refused, making it seem like I was being unreasonable. My complaint was brushed off as “just a ceremony,” even though the music had gone on for more than two days. Service was below what I’ve had at other places with similar ratings and trusted partner status. The staff tried, and I don’t mean them any disrespect, but it fell flat. They were keen to collect cash upfront, and cards weren’t accepted. I was the only tourist I saw during my three days there, and I don’t think anyone was on site after 9pm, which felt unnerving in such a remote location. Fishing boats out front also start up at 4am, so the place may not be as quiet as people say. I may have been unlucky, but you could be too, and end up paying for it.

Watching the sunrise was one of our favourite parts of the stay, a lovely way to begin the day. The pool was peaceful and inviting, and breakfast each morning was hearty and delicious. The whole property was spotless, and our bungalow felt cosy. From the moment we arrived at Meditasi Bungalows, the attentive staff made us feel at home with warm smiles. They went out of their way to make our stay good, and were among the kindest people we met on our trip. We’d recommend it for an authentic Balinese stay and genuinely warm hospitality.

The spot has a romantic feel, and the red sunrises over Lombok are breathtaking. Snorkelling is great nearby, and everything was spotless and comfortable. The outdoor bathroom was amazing. Madi was always smiling and helped us with whatever we needed, from scooter rental to excursions and transport. The food is absolutely delicious. Highly recommended!
