Ocean Resort Amed

The setting is beautiful, which made this a real shame. We were staying next door and came for lunch, thinking we might become regulars because it was so convenient to have a restaurant nearby. I had my 3-year-old daughter with me. We ordered soup and chicken steak at 12:15pm, but by 1:25pm we still had no food. Then they told us the mushroom soup wasn’t available. The customer service was terrible, and the kitchen looked like a junk room, with food scraps and rubbish all over. We still had to pay for our drinks. We haven’t gone back.

We waited over an hour for breakfast, and all we’d ordered was toast and scrambled egg. They couldn’t even bring a drink first, though it was only tea and we waited an hour for that too. If breakfast is made to order, the hotel could prepare it ahead so staff can hand it out when breakfast starts. I don’t know what management expects two toast machines to do for a menu that’s all toast.

We only spent one night here. The room was good, but the owners need to sort out the road. Our car got stuck because the road to the hotel sits much lower than the main road. A staff member said many tourists have had accidents there, yet the owners haven’t fixed it. There are no streetlights at night either, and the road gets very slippery. Families with young children, please don’t book this hotel.

We had a lovely stay for a fairly low price. The pool is gorgeous, and you can snorkel at the beach out front. Staff were extremely friendly, attentive, and helpful. Our standard budget room had a porch but no view, which was fine, and the view from the pool was wonderful. The room was spacious and very clean, with a fridge, a good air conditioner, and a ceiling fan. The bathroom was large, and the shower was huge. Breakfast is included and a bit plain, but at this price I’m not complaining.
