Vienna Beach Resort

The ocean view was beautiful, and the resort was clean, though more rundown than the website photos suggested. I stayed one night at Vienna Beach Resort this past October. The beach itself was small and crowded, so as someone who likes a quiet, small resort, I wouldn’t recommend it. That said, families may enjoy the location for snorkelling and scuba diving. The restaurant was okay, and there are also plenty of local warungs and coffee shops nearby.

Everyone at Vienna beach was super friendly and caring during our week there with our baby. They were always trying to play with our little son. The room and bathroom were spacious, and our ground-floor room had a terrace and small garden just a few metres from the ocean. When we needed to leave one day earlier than booked, they were generous and charged us for only half a day. A couple of small things could be improved. The bed had a mosquito net that we didn’t really need, and it didn’t close properly. The beautiful entrance door creaked so loudly that our baby woke up several times. Also, when the staff cleaned, they sprayed bug spray on the floor. It would be better to let guests, especially those with babies, know and ask whether they want it used. Our son is crawling on all fours all the time and could easily get residue from the spray on his hands.

I didn’t stay at the hotel, just stopped at the restaurant. The atmosphere was nice, with a great view, friendly service, and fair prices. I came for a swim since the pool is inside the hotel area, and bought a pair of short linen pants from the shop for swimming. They were really nice. I brought my dog and was pleasantly surprised by how welcoming they were, since I hadn’t known the place was pet-friendly. The only small snag was paying for the pants. The cashier seemed a bit untrained with the EDC/QR payment system, so I had to use my card and got charged an extra 3%. When I paid for my food and drinks earlier, another staff member handled QRIS well, so there was no additional fee.

The staff looked after us with genuine care during our recent stay at Vienna Beach Resort in Amed. Made and his team were polite, attentive, and efficient. The resort sits right on the beach, just a few metres from the shore, and the ocean views, especially from the restaurant, are stunning. We kept returning to the restaurant because its varied dishes were delicious, and breakfast was included in our stay. Our spacious room was right on the beachfront. It was spotless and well maintained, with a sea-facing balcony furnished with chairs, a table, a large daybed, and an overhead fan. The breeze kept it cool and comfortable. Inside, there was a beautiful canopy bed, lots of storage, a fridge, tea and coffee-making facilities, and a large, well-kept bathroom. A small gate at the end of the resort opens directly onto Lipah Beach. You can rent snorkels there to explore the reef just offshore, or book a boat for a snorkelling tour along the coast. Prices from vendors can vary quite a bit, so negotiate firmly. We really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend Vienna Beach Resort to anyone visiting Amed.
