The terrace outside each room has a table and chair overlooking a rice paddy, and there’s a shared poolside area if you feel like meeting other guests. We stayed for nine days in a comfortable, basic room at a good price for Canggu. The kitchen has what you need to cook for yourself, and the location is handy while still feeling quiet, though the busy main road nearby can be heard. Construction was underway on the far side of the property, where our room was. I was worried about the noise at first and mentioned it to the staff. They asked us to let them know if it became a problem, but it was fine. We even added two nights at the last minute and they made it work. Room service was provided, with fresh towels every couple of days. I’d recommend it.

It’s the people staying at Agung who make the place feel special. The atmosphere and the friendly guests made it easy to feel at home, even while far away.

You can rent a scooter from reception for 50,000 IDR a day, and the beach is about five minutes away by scooter. The room was lovely, with air conditioning and a great sunset view. The pool was nice, the city location worked well, and the price was reasonable. Breakfast is coffee or tea with banana toast. It tasted good, though the kitchen looked a bit grimy, so I’d eat out instead. The nearby organic relish café or crate café are good options.

There wasn’t anyone at reception when I arrived on Sunday afternoon, so I had to call and wait around 20 minutes. The room felt very old, and the sockets by the bathroom were coming out of the wall. The AC was set to 16 but seemed to work more like 27, and it was noisy. The bathroom setup felt scary to shower in: the door had no knob, the sink was outside, and the small inside space only had a shower and toilet. Breakfast was just a banana jaffle and coffee, with no choice.

The price is really within budget, and I love staying here. Last time I came with my girlfriend. Our room was very large, with a big, comfortable bed and a spacious bathroom. I was on the third floor, where you can see across the Canggu area.
