Bintang House

We were in the huts for just one night before an early volcano hike, and they were excellent. It was very calm, and the staff were super nice and helpful. They were already there in the morning helping us with the guides. A great place for the volcano track, very much recommended!

You can tell there’s attention to detail here, and it seems the owner reads the reviews. People had complained about there being no hot water or mineral water, and now there’s hot water and two bottles of mineral water. I only have two criticisms. The hot water seems to come from little 30 litre tanks, which run out quickly. It takes quite a while to heat back up, so if you have shampoo in your hair when it goes cold, that’s not good. My tip is to shower together, wash fast, shampoo even faster, and rinse before the water turns ice cold. For two people showering and washing things, 30 litres just isn’t enough. If you replace them, please consider 80-100 litre storage tanks or tapping into the heated underground water from the volcano if possible. The path in is another issue. There’s more water on it than in Lake Batur. The three landing areas really need concrete, or at least the lava rocks need to be set in concrete so water doesn’t pool. One more small request for the owner: please lower the bathroom mirror a bit. My girlfriend couldn’t see her face in it. 🪞 😊 Other than that, it’s a great place, and I look forward to coming back and seeing the new pool. Thanks for having us.

The room was cozy, with a comfy bed, and breakfast was nice. The staff did a great job, responding quickly and accommodating us when we asked for things. I also liked the outdoor shower, which had really good hot water. It’s a quiet, relaxing place with a nice garden. In the mornings you can hear the wildlife. I found the location ideal, though there wasn’t a lake view; what I could see was decent, but views are a matter of taste. The room had no jug for boiling water, fridge, or bottled water, but that didn’t bother me too much. I asked staff for hot water for coffee in the morning, and they brought it. It’s far from any restaurant or shop, so hiring a bike is a good idea for getting around. We had a car, so it wasn’t a problem. I’d stay here again for the peace and quiet.

The room was quite nice overall, but getting help at night was difficult. We couldn’t reach the staff by phone and had to go downstairs to find them ourselves. There were way too many flies during the day, and they competed with us for food. The crickets were really noisy too. Halfway through my shower, the hot water ran out. Older guests should know there’s a flight of stairs to climb before reaching the rooms. Also, using my own hair dryer tripped the electricity several times.
