Paripadi Villa Canggu

Even when we woke up late, the staff were happy to bring us breakfast with big smiles. We also loved the massage, which was really relaxing. This was definitely one of the best places we stayed in Canggu, surrounded by nature and in a great spot just five minutes from the centre. We'll definitely come back during the next few days of our stay!

The views across the rice fields are lovely, though nearby construction and damaged parts of the fields spoil some of them. The property itself has a beautiful natural setting, a river, and a renovated pool area, and the concept has real potential. Our arrival was a poor first impression. We'd shared our estimated arrival time, but there was no message beforehand and nobody there to welcome us. We waited more than five minutes to be attended to. Inside the place described as a “sanctuary,” the first thing we saw was a tree made from plastic bottles, like something from a Christmas market, which took away from the atmosphere and sense of refinement. The villas feel quite dated, and the furniture needs maintenance and renewal. When problems came up, the solutions felt basic and didn't match what I'd expect from a high-end retreat. The service overall doesn't feel like a true luxury standard. The location and idea are promising, but the property isn't currently delivering that level of hospitality.

The gardens and staff were the real highlights. The pool was lovely and pleasantly warm, and the staff were kind enough to bring us repellent at 2 am after mosquitoes got us badly on the first night. We had coils and spray for the next night, and the mosquitoes weren't as bad. Breakfast came included, and while the portion was small, it tasted good. We stayed two nights in the upstairs Daruh room. I hadn't noticed when booking that the bathroom has a completely open roof, which lets in mosquitoes. Local dogs then barked for an hour at 3 am, which was annoying. We wanted to have a bath, but the pressure was too low to fill it, and the shower pressure was weak too. I'd recommend the place, just be aware of these things.

After three nights, I can say there are mosquitoes here, yes, but Bali has them all around, as does Asia generally. If you can't handle that, stay away; otherwise bring some spray and you'll be fine. Even after just my first night at Pari Padi Villa Sanctuary, I was already impressed. The staff are friendly, welcoming, professional, and clearly care about their guests. The food is delicious, everything is spotless, and the rooms look just like the photos, modern, clean, and very comfortable. I had an amazing massage too. The team puts real effort and attention into making the place special. Everything from start to finish has been perfect. Highly recommend it to anyone visiting Bali!
