Villa Uma Girasole - Villa C

The location was even better than the pool, which was lovely, and the rooms were clean. The team made us feel very welcome. Five stars all around, highly recommend!

I’d give this zero stars. We had a really bad experience, though AirBnB have been brilliant helping us. The pool was dirty and smelled awful, and it stained our bathing suits. The damaged decking and pool surround felt dangerous. There were urine and blood stains on the bed sheets, and there was no washer dryer despite it being advertised. The property seems to have had no maintenance over the years. The walls were dirty, damaged, scuffed and discolored. The place smelled, and the wood floors and furniture had water stains. Look elsewhere.

The house is in a great part of Canggu, close to the beaches and lots of good places to eat. Gypsy Kitchen+Bar was a standout and is definitely recommended. Getting to and from Seminyak was easy too, about 20 minutes by taxi. The guards were polite and professional, and most of the cleaning staff were friendly and nice. But our stay in the summer of 2018 came with plenty of problems. The house felt worn out, with loose, cracked wooden boards that could hurt your feet, so we had to wear sandals all the time. One bedroom's AC barely worked and got extremely hot. There was almost no sunlight at the villa for much of the day. When the sun was at its strongest, the roof blocked about 95% of it until sunset. The worst part was the missing slippers. We were traveling with two sisters who had bought identical Havaiana slippers, three pairs each. After we went out to dinner one evening, one pair was gone. The next day, the cleaners said they'd look around in case the slippers had been moved or the girls had forgotten where they left them after the beach. Later, after cleaning, they said they hadn't found them and told us to search the house ourselves. We did, and the crew chief said she would look into it. That night, one of the cleaning guys brought the pair back. He said he'd found them in the rice field and claimed the cat(s) nearby had taken both slippers out of our locked house, over a 5 foot wall, and into the field. Twice. We always checked that the whole house was locked before going to dinner, the beach, or elsewhere. They were cheap slippers and we got them back, but it could just as easily have been something valuable or unique. Make of that what you will. It left a very sour feeling and spoiled the rest of our week. The area itself is great, though.

The villa is enormous, but it was dusty. The pool looks lovely when frangipani falls into it and around the poolside, though it wasn't as clean as we'd hoped.
