Wave and Chill House Hostel Raya Canggu

The owner is really nice, and the homestay is clean and pleasant for resting. But I had bedbugs in the bunk I slept in. It was the worst night of my life.

There are lots of cool places around Canggu, and this house is close to them. The place was very quiet and clean, and guests seemed considerate of one another and did their best to keep the noise down. I had six clean, comfortable beds in my bedroom, with a fan and AC, plus a rack for my belongings. The bathroom was clean too. The communal area felt cozy and homey, with a dining room and kitchen. You can use the cooking utensils, just wash them after. The keeper was very nice, but contact him before you arrive so you don’t end up waiting too long to get into your booking. For a solo traveler looking for an affordable but comfortable stay, I had no regrets about the money I spent. It was a unique experience.

I booked five nights by mistake and left after two. It’s a very cheap, rustic place, but my stay wasn’t pleasant. The staff said they only turn on the AC when there are at least four people in the room, even though I thought it was included. The bedding made my skin feel uncomfortable, maybe because of detergent or bugs, I’m not sure. My dorm was noisy from the road, and the fan was loud. I also saw a huge cockroach in the toilet, and the small pool didn’t seem well maintained. One night a staff member came into the dorm and turned on the light to welcome someone arriving late. I waited politely, but it was nearly midnight and I wanted to sleep. What about the guests already staying there? I wondered if it was so the new guest wouldn’t see cockroaches, since they hide when the light is on. It felt pretty shady, though I can see now what going too cheap can get you into. When I was heading into town, they asked if I was checking out, which made me feel like people often leave. Best of luck to the owner. I hope you invest a bit more in the business and in making budget guests satisfied.

Max, the guy working there, was kind and helpful. They also provide free drinking water, and the place is close to all the activities. I was okay staying there since it was my last day, but there’s room for improvement with communication and cleanliness. It didn’t look much like the website photos, so I didn’t recognize the place when I arrived. And the pool is funny, like a small fish tank.
