Cilacap Guest House

This is a small hostel just outside Cilacap's main bus terminal. Rates run from 50K to 250K a night, and there's a Smart TV. It's about 10 to 15 minutes by car to the train station. The bathroom is shared and toiletries aren't provided, though you can buy them at reception. There's no official parking area, but staff will guide you to park at the bus terminal, which feels pretty safe. A car costs 5K. Traffic and the railway make it very noisy.

I expected to stay one night in Cilacap and ended up here for seven. The guest house owner even sorted out transport to my next stop for me in about two minutes when I was having trouble arranging it on the way over. There turned out to be about a week's worth of things to do in Cilacap, and the town is full of very friendly people. The dorms have strong air conditioning, and the beds are soft and cozy. There are seven toilets with showers and powerful jets, plus laundry and ironing services and a place to dry the prided towels. It's well located near the train station and bus depot, with lots of Indomaret and Alfamart shops, a pharmacy next door, and plenty of food places nearby. Ask the owner about some of Cilacap's legendary warungs. The guest house, its people, and Cilacap itself were highlights of my trip.

This is among the cheapest places I've found, so don't expect too much. You get a bed, but it's laid on the floor. You can pick an AC room or a fan room, with the AC option costing double. It's a decent choice for a solo backpacking trip or for staying with friends. I wouldn't recommend bringing family, especially kids, since they'd need better facilities.

Clean, modern, private, stylish, and the internet is fast. The people working here are so kind and helpful, and the prices are great for what you get. Couldn't ask for a better place. Looking forward to coming back soon.
