Kubu Munggu Homestay

The mold was the worst part. You could smell it, and breathing that air didn’t feel safe. There were no windows and too little light, so the room felt like a basement. The water smelled bad too, and we skipped bathing. We had planned a longer stay but left early. The place was dirty throughout. We needed a kitchen, but it wasn’t clean enough to cook in. The fridge, surfaces, and bathroom hadn’t been cleaned after previous guests. There was only toilet paper in the bathroom, with no soap or shampoo, and one towel per person. We’d agreed on 250k a day, but after moving in we saw the booking price was 220k a day. We had deposited 700k before seeing the room, which was a mistake. After three days, we told the manager we were unhappy and moving out, but he still said we owed another 50k. I know we had agreed to that price, but we hadn’t agreed to stay with mold. Maybe the place looked like the photos a couple of years ago, but the lack of attention to service has made it unpleasant now.

Our room faced the pool, so it was lovely to relax there at night or have breakfast with the view in the morning. We really enjoyed staying at Kubu Munggu. The homestay is comfortable and quiet, surrounded by trees, greenery, and flowers. The owner keeps birds, and their occasional chirping made the place feel like home.

The service was very poor, and this was the worst stay I’ve had in Bali. There was no water set aside for guests, and the man here told us to go outside to get drinking water. The bathroom had no shampoo or anything else. They also couldn’t help with charging a phone, since the outlets don’t work with the adaptor.

We stayed from 11-01-23 to 18-01-23. At first it seemed fine, just a spare room, but the rooms were dirty, the bathroom filthy, and the water was strange. The worst part was that money was stolen. It hadn’t been in the safe, but it was still gone.
