Warna Kedaton Hotel and Meeting

We stayed here while our visa was being renewed, and the immigration office was a 25-minute walk away. The comments don’t do this hotel justice. The room was checked and confirmed clean before we got the keys, the AC worked, and the pool was perfect after spending the day outside. Sure, there are things that could be improved, but it’s an old hotel adapting to modern expectations. It seems people will accept insects at a five-star hotel in the jungle for ten times the price, yet not even one mosquito is tolerated here.

At night I couldn’t sleep because my body was itching all over. When I turned the light back on, I was shocked to see dozens of BEDBUGS crawling across the bed. We checked out first thing the next morning. Even basic things like towels and soap weren’t provided. Staff said they’d bring them to the room, but never did. When we asked again, they said all the towels were being washed. I heard someone in the room next door make the same complaint. We weren’t even given bottled mineral water.

The room was large, but not in good condition, and the bathtub was clogged. Staff were rarely around, and it wasn’t easy to find the place. My taxi driver couldn’t locate it, and I walked up and down the street six times before I finally found it. It’s a long way from the beach and not close to the Kuta area. There’s a nice local food stall by the road outside. Renting a motorbike, which I eventually did, made getting around easier. I think it cost 50,000IDR, which is very cheap.

I don’t often write about bad experiences, but here’s a little to know. This is a big, old hotel with spacious rooms, and if you’re on a low budget and only need a bed, it could suit you. Don’t expect good service. I chose it because it’s very close to Taman Werdhi Arts Centre. I spent two days enjoying the 2018 Bali Arts Festival, so the room was just somewhere for me to sleep.
