The Puncak

The hill is pretty steep, so if you're riding a scooter, make sure the brakes are good. Once there, it's a lovely place for private, quiet downtime, with one of the best views in the Senggigi area. The two infinity pools in front of the rooms are great for cooling off while sunbathing and enjoying the surroundings. The owner is kind and helpful, and the staff are great. We had a great time, thank you.

Breakfast is optional and made in house. I'd recommend the omelette or fried noodles. JP handles check-in and gives you the details you need, and whenever we messaged him for help, he replied promptly. Budi was around in the daytime to take care of anything we needed. We loved our recent stay at The Puncak. Waking up to the ocean view from bed was beautiful, especially at sunset. Thanks to JP, Budi, and Nury for making our trip such a wonderful experience. I'd recommend this place to anyone wanting to get away from the busy beachfront or city.

Jean-Paul arranged SCUBA diving and cycling trips for us, and we enjoyed walking the clear tracks up to forested hill villages above The Puncak. Some Senggigi restaurants offered free transport for dinner, so we ate in town most nights. The Puncak also has an evening menu with local and international dishes. The rooms open onto private patios, with views over the Lombok Strait, an infinity pool, and Bali. There are five rooms in this cosy boutique hotel. From there, we watched the sun set behind the distinctive triangle of Bali's Mt Agung volcano. Our room was simply but beautifully furnished, with natural materials that gave it a calm feel. Breakfast was served on the patio, plentiful, fresh, healthy, delicious, and available as continental or local fare. The whole property was clean and very well kept. Jean-Paul and Nury were charming hosts, attentive to details from the moment we arrived and helping make our Lombok holiday wonderful. The place felt like a peaceful escape from the usual rush. We arrived two days after the main earthquake hit Lombok. The Puncak had no earthquake damage. In Senggigi, many well-built structures and wooden or bamboo houses in the kampongs were unscathed, while less well-built buildings fared worse. People in Senggigi were going about their daily lives, and everyone had a story to share. We felt warmly welcomed and were glad to listen. If you're planning a trip to Lombok, come. The island needs tourists to help it recover.

We arrived at 9pm after a long, winding drive on a dark road, only to be refused check-in because we had two children. They wouldn't refund our payment. They said the place was meant to be tranquil and children might disturb other guests, while two dogs barked in the background. Looking back, all I can do is laugh. I hope the business isn't bankrupt during the pandemic, and that the owner of villa puncak Lombok isn't miserable or reduced to selling juice on the street. I hope you succeed. Cheers 🤭😉
