The sea right in front was great for swimming and snorkeling, and when it got choppy we could use the pool instead. We loved exploring East Sumba's hills, waterfall and traditional village, and the staff helped us find a great driver and shared plenty of useful information. Meals were delicious, and our room was very clean. It was amazing to discover a place in East Sumba that still feels hidden from most tourists. We'd definitely recommend staying here and hope to come back. Thank you!

The hotel seems to be going downhill, which is a shame. The garden looks neglected, the amenities don't feel fresh, and there was a problem with the toilet tank. Getting there also takes extra time: the hotel is reached by a dirt road set well back from the main road.

We really appreciated how quiet and secure the place felt, a lovely break from the bustle of everyday life. The beach is beautiful, though water shoes would make it easier to walk around, especially with children. We managed in flip flops. Tanoma Sumba itself is stunning and well cared for, and with so few other travelers around we got such a personal experience. The hotel arranged motorbike rentals so we could explore East Sumba's magical spots, which were quiet too.

We stopped here on the way to Rindi for coffee and a restroom break, and the staff were friendly and very helpful. They even let us look at the rooms. We didn't stay overnight, but it seems like a good place to catch the sunset and would be worth staying at. The location is a bit of a challenge since it's off the main road. If you want to get away from city life and unwind, it seems ideal.

I spent two nights here, and the service was the worst I've experienced. The middle aged woman who I think was the manager had very bad manners. She never greeted or welcomed us, and at one point made a face that seemed disgusted by Asian people like us. At night she came right to our villa with a flashlight while I was sitting there, said nothing about what was going on, then just looked and walked past. Very bad. This is a service business, and the service should be better than this.
