Apalagi Villas

The villa was nice, and its fridge was well stocked with fairly priced items. Staff were friendly, and the north of the island was quiet. It’s not within walking distance, though, and the horses looked tired and seemed to be suffering, so an e-bike is a better option. I was surprised they charged 20k to charge the e-bike, especially after we’d spent a lot on the accommodation. They also forgot to deliver breakfast.

Shelley was a great host, knew the local spots well, and was very accommodating at short notice. The service was good, and bikes were provided for getting around the island. It’s a cozy, stylish private villa with a lovely plunge pool.

The place is beautiful and peaceful, and check-in and service were good. Still, I was disappointed that the property recommends arriving and leaving by horse cart. These rides are known to be very stressful and often harmful to horses. Walking the 1.5 km to the multi-story accommodation is quite feasible. I wish the property offered other options, or advice on how to identify horses that are healthy and well treated.

We had a wonderful family stay with our four kids, and hope to come back someday. The area is calm, and bikes were available to reach the island’s great spots easily. Breakfast was lovely and served at the accommodation in the morning. The staff were professional, always available, and discreet.
