II Bungalow

The room at II Bungalows Gili Meno had cockroaches, and rats were running around on the roof. It was unsettling and made it impossible to relax. The cleanliness was unacceptable. I wouldn't recommend staying here; it badly needs a thorough clean and pest control.

Head round the back of the other hostel and you'll find a fantastic homestay with Ama. She looked after us so well, answered all our questions, and made pancakes and scrambled eggs every morning. The laundry was done really well too. She's there on her own, so be patient if you can't find her. She's probably looking after the cows that provide the butter for breakfast!

The hotel seemed abandoned. The room looked nothing like the photos: everything was dirty and rusty, the sheets were stained, and it felt as if someone had simply put a bed in an abandoned building and started renting it out. The staff didn't even know about our reservation. They charged my cards when I booked, but the place was so awful that we didn't stay. I told the employee that it looked different from the photos, but she didn't respond. They haven't returned my money or answered my messages. Do not book this hotel. It was a complete nightmare, and I don't recommend it.

The sheets and towels were clean, and breakfast was good. But the room was so dirty it seemed they only changed the bedding when they cleaned. There were holes in the bathroom ceiling, dirt had fallen through and hadn't been cleaned up, and wildlife was getting in. The shower drain was filthy too. I think some reviews may be for the newly built block, but we stayed in the old part. One night was enough.
