Abdi Hotel & Bungalow

The location is the one good thing for me: it's right across from the harbor, where I arrived by ferry from Bali. The rooms were dirty and old, despite all the claims that the place is clean. Only the sheets seemed clean. The towels looked old and dirty, and the floors and walls did too. The pool was nice-looking but not clean. I even found feces in my bathroom. The man at reception came to check and said it was from a lizard inside the room. I was too freaked out to stay there, so he moved me to a bigger room that seemed a tiny bit cleaner. But that bathroom wasn't good either: the toilet was loose, people outside could look straight into it, and it had a weird, gross smell. Noise was a lot, too. I don't mind mosque sounds, but the mosque, party people, music and construction could all be heard at once. Not somewhere to rest. I got sick and spent a whole day in my room, and nobody came to check on me or ask if I was okay. I also left my slippers in the first room. You'd think housekeeping would tell reception, but they were nowhere to be found. A bit odd. There are lots of positive reviews, which is why I booked, but I don't understand what people are raving about. If you're backpacking on a budget and don't care where you sleep, maybe this is a gem for you. If hygiene and comfort matter to you, it isn't.

We had a pool-view room at a really affordable price, with AC, a safe, mini fridge, clean bathroom and comfortable bed. The pool area was clean and quiet, and the hotel itself stayed quiet even though it's so close to the boat port. It's an easy base for exploring the Gili islands, and you don't have to walk far with your bags. There's room at the back to leave bikes. The staff were friendly too. Bars are nearby if that's your thing, but we couldn't hear them from the room, only the bathroom. There was construction nearby during our June stay, which the owner said would run 9-5 on weekdays, but it didn't affect us. I'd stay here again.

We recommend this hotel for a short stay in GILI TRAWANGAN. It's very clean, the office staff are all friendly, and being near the port is convenient. Electric scooters cost 150 K for 3 hours to look around the island. Outside the hotel there's a horse taxi, and you may need to rest more.

I liked the pool, the friendly staff and the patio outside. The room and bathroom were spacious, though the room looked a bit outdated. There were lots of stains on the walls that could use a repaint, and it seemed like nobody had cleaned under the bed for a long time. It's right by the Harbour, and fairly quiet, but it's also beside the party mile so you can hear some music at night. That didn't bother me.
