Gili White Bamboo by Secoms

The room feels like having your own private room in a hostel. It’s okay for one night, but if you’re staying longer, I’d spend a bit more for somewhere nicer.

We booked a week at this “resort” and left after three days. Calling it a resort is generous, it felt more like a very bad motel. The bedroom was okay, but the sheets had brown and yellow stains. The old bathroom was awful, and the water stopped working a few times. There was no bin in the room. Some guests left rubbish in the hallway, where it wasn’t cleared away and the bugs had a feast. Our room wasn’t cleaned once during our stay, despite the listing saying it would be cleaned every day. The pool looked really dirty, and the family and friends of the staff used the common areas to hang out, making a lot of noise. The electricity went out one night, so the air conditioning shut off. There’s a mosque close by, and prayers woke us at 5am EVERY morning. If you want a good time on Gili T, stay away from this place.

The location is the best thing about this hotel, near the harbour and close to Gili’s night market. Otherwise, it’s pretty average. Service was lacking, cleanliness left a lot to be desired, and the room cleaning was delayed after the guest requested check-in.

The staff were the highlight for me, so welcoming and helpful, probably the most accommodating people on Gili T. It’s a good-value spot about a six-minute walk from Gili T harbour. Being a little away from the harbour made it quiet enough for a good night’s sleep. The room was decent, though the toilet could use some improvement.
