Kalua Boutique Bungalows

The room layout is a big reason this is my go-to place on Gili T. I always book the one-bedroom villa around the pool. With a separate bedroom and living area, TV, small fridge, and balcony overlooking the pool, it feels like having a private villa without the price tag. Breakfast on the balcony is a lovely way to start the day. It’s about 500 metres back from the front, making it easy to get away from the busy area. The spot feels safe, and cycling through the back streets gives you easy access to sunset and Bongkas Beach. Staff are friendly without hovering, and happy to help with anything. They can arrange bikes and laundry, and make a delicious breakfast with several options. The backpackers across the road have quieted down a lot since my 2023 review, so you can barely hear them now. It feels like a peaceful Gili backstreet again. There’s also a new cafe across the road, Nona’s, with delicious healthy salads, juices, and other food.

Peri, the manager, kindly changed my booking from three nights to two after my boat was cancelled, and didn’t charge extra. All the staff were courteous and helpful, and there are bicycles to rent. The rooms are large and spacious with a luxurious feel, and breakfast was really good with options to choose from. There’s a pool for relaxing, and the property is quiet and peaceful. A beautiful place to stay on Gili T, whether you’re travelling solo, as a couple, or with family. Highly recommended.

We stayed three nights and would happily come again. Service was amazing, the rooms were large and clean, the air conditioning worked perfectly, and the pool was lovely for relaxing. The location is good, though there are some unpleasant smells around, which seem pretty normal for the island. Breakfast cost 50K per person and was among the best we had in Bali. I’d recommend it.

Peri, the manager, was full of energy and so helpful. Rudy was friendly and helpful too, and all the other staff were smiling, cheerful, and kind. Breakfast was delicious with a few choices, and the staff can arrange bike rental. The bungalows are good value and have extra room, with a separate living space, TV, daybed, and small fridge. The beds are huge and very comfortable, with lots of pillows. There’s a good-sized bathroom with shower gel and shampoo provided. The pool sits under a beautiful frangipani tree, with space for everyone, though at times it feels like you have it all to yourself. Sitting outside and listening to the village sounds is lovely. It’s about a 200 metre walk to the harbour and beach, and feels safe even alone. A large, noisy hostel has opened next door and parties every night, but they finish by 10pm. The best thing is to stay out exploring until then. Thanks again, KALUA, for a great stay!
