Les Villas Ottalia Gili Trawangan

I loved this villa. It was amazing and clean, right in the middle of everything, though the island is small lol. Our host was great, and the pool was nice. I liked the outdoor bathroom. The shower water isn’t heated, but it’s bearable in the island heat. I also liked being next to a bunch of other villas. 10/10 recommend.

We left in a hurry and had to find a hotel at the last minute. The place looked nothing like the photos and felt dirty and abandoned. At check-in, we waited an hour before we could even get hold of the owner, and when we finally got inside, one of the rooms still wasn’t ready even though we’d booked for three people. Do not book this place.

The villa was lovely over Christmas, with a clean room, a really comfortable bed, and a great mosquito net. I liked the pool and outdoor space too, and the bathroom had a hot shower and somewhere to hang clothes. Staff were friendly and sorted out a bike rental for me. The wifi dropped out a few times, for about an hour at a time. The gate and door can be fiddly to lock from inside, but it gets easier once you know how, just check they’re secure. I’d stay again.

At €150 a night, this was nowhere near the advertised three-star standard. The breakfast was poor, the room was dirty, water kept cutting out, and the surroundings felt unsanitary. It was hard to see the way in at night, too. When I raised concerns, the owner's behavior was unacceptable. Avoid.
