The reef right by Peles Place was the highlight for us. We saw more kinds of fish snorkeling there than we did while diving, and farther out you might spot stingrays too. Snorkel rental is 25k a day. We stayed in a budget room, which was lovely and had what we needed for a cozy visit, including hot and cold water for morning coffee. The family running the place were amazing. Peles Place really felt like paradise in Iboih, and we wished we could have stayed longer. We’ll be back as soon as we can. Terima Kasih!

A lovely hideaway up above the shore. The bungalow sits right in the jungle, so there’s birdsong and you can hear the tides the whole time. It’s quiet and relaxing, with a comfortable bed and enough room to spread out. The hot shower worked too.

The food was tasty, though the restaurant menu is limited, and the staff were friendly and tried their best. We stayed six nights in August 2025 as a couple. The bungalow was clean and quiet, with a nice tile floor, fridge, and kettle, about a 10-minute walk from the village. We saw plenty of fish, including lion fish, snorkeling from the dock. The current was sometimes too strong to swim against, so we came back to shore. Our AC, unfortunately, was broken and dripping for four of the six days, even after repeated repairs.

The restaurant area is a good place to snorkel, with live coral and lots of fish. I paid 230k for one night. The room was alright, though the shower and bath area is partly open, so insects can get in. There were quite a few cockroaches around the shower in my room. The compound is a bit far uphill from the Iboih area, which isn’t convenient if you don’t have a motorbike or car.

Annie and Boy made us feel so comfortable, and we really appreciated how much they did for us during Ramadan. We stayed three nights in the oceanfront cottage, with my mother-in-law in another cottage behind ours. Hers had a great view too. I spent hours snorkeling each day and saw fish and colorful boring clams I’d never seen before. It’s especially good for people new to ocean snorkeling. The reef is right outside, and you can sleep with the porch doors open to hear the tide roll against the rocks and recede. Inside, we had AC, a fridge, kettle, mosquito net, hammock, deck, chairs, a view, and decent WiFi. I didn’t want to leave. We saw at least a dozen crown-of-thorns starfish, and think local divers may be trying to kill them. I don’t want any creature killed, though I know these starfish are bad for coral. At low tide, watch out for their spines, which I hear are nasty. Snorkeling at high tide avoids them. Reefs, coral and fish are struggling in so many parts of the ocean, so see this place before we humans wreck it all.
