Nirva Ocean House

The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay, and the facilities were comfortable and well looked after. We also enjoyed the food, which had enough variety. Nirva Ocean Resort was a relaxing place for a short break away from the city. A very pleasant stay and a good pick if you're after some quiet time by the ocean.

There isn't much to do outside the resort, with no café or restaurant nearby, so you're pretty much limited to staying in and eating there. The resort itself is small but has quite a lot on offer: jet skiing, fishing, kayaking, snorkeling, electric bikes, and a padel court. Our room was okay and most of the food was decent, apart from the carbonara. Service was a real letdown. Check-in was set for 2 PM, but the room wasn't ready until 3 PM, and we waited almost 3 hours to get in. They did give us an extra hour at checkout to make up for it. The restaurant was worse. We waited an hour for a caffe latte, and it seemed they didn't have enough staff.

The water level was low, but the whole staff worked hard to make our stay a relaxed holiday and a nice start to our Indonesia trip. The bedrooms had air conditioning, which was important since Tidung was warm in April. The hotel is clean and thoughtfully laid out, and the staff are wonderful. Han took care of our restaurant meals, making sure my husband could eat gluten-free and mine was less spicy. He also shared information about Indonesia and gave us a few language lessons. Nopal arranged our snorkeling, fishing, and cycling, and helped us understand the invoice when our jet-lagged brains weren't up to it.

The room at Nirva house was tidy and pleasant, and the food was great. The staff were very nice too. They can arrange the boat between Jakarta and Tidung in both directions, as well as a bentor from the dock to the hotel.
