The hot shower was a relief, it worked really well. But the hotel seemed short-staffed during the holiday period. Some AC units didn't work, the fridge was completely broken, there were very few charging outlets, the Wi-Fi was weak, and some lights flickered or switched off on their own.

The staff were a real help. They called around to find me a driver to Muara Jambi and a travel company for my next stop. I don't speak Indonesian, so I’m genuinely grateful for their support. The pool was decent, though a bit dirty, and the central Jambi location is good. The main hotel might be fine, but its lobby furniture looked old and dirty. The Abadi budget wing felt far too expensive for what it offered. My room was dirty, with hair on the floor when I checked in late at night. I was too tired to ask for another room. The towels looked old and grimy despite smelling freshly washed, the bathtub drain was clogged with hair, and there were lots of ants in both the room and restaurant. I wouldn't stay again at that price.

The yellowish water was so cloudy in both the toilet and bathtub. I found a cockroach in the room, too. The bedding and curtains had lots of holes, like cigarette burns, and the bathroom looked extremely old and unused. Even the TV was manual. I paid 270k per night, which feels much too high for a budget hotel. I think 150-200k per room would make more sense, and at 50-100k I wouldn't complain. The room was a very long way from the lift, down a hallway that felt like a maze, even though there were only a few guests that day. The carpeted corridor was dusty, and walking through it brought back my dust allergy after a long time. This was the most disappointing hotel I've stayed in, across different star ratings and prices. I'd look elsewhere for a budget hotel.

The location feels strange. It's in the middle of a market, but after 7 pm everything is empty and dark. Even with a wide parking area, it reminded me of a dark alley and seemed like a place where crime could happen. The hotel is very old, though Batik air uses it for pilots and flight attendants. It's spacious and clean, but the atmosphere is a bit scary. The food is decent, at least edible.

The room was clean and tidy, and they delivered a free newspaper to it every day, which was great. Service was good, and breakfast was fine, though more choice would have been nice. The pool itself was fine, but it's open to the public, so I'd skip swimming there on the weekend. I had a good time and would recommend it.
