Big K Hostel

The room worked out really well, especially the upper bunk in the mixed dorm. It was a double bed with a little door, and mornings there were nice. Everyone was friendly and easy to talk to. I even borrowed a guitar and played it on the balcony 😁. It’s a bit of a walk to alun², but a slow stroll there burns some carbs before seafood. If you’re going to karimun, remember Ibu Sri, she sells juice too 😆. One downside is that the boss seems to like partying, so music can get loud at night. Apart from that, it was perfect and I’d stay again.

The clean room and bathroom, along with a delicious breakfast, made for a great stay. The standout was the service: the reception can sort out anything from a tour to a motorbike, and mas Anet deserves special thanks for organizing everything around my packed schedule. Best hostel service I’ve had. Terima kasih banyak! Sampai Jumpa!

The nearby mosque woke us around 4 or 5 in the morning, even through thick earplugs. I’m also pretty sure we got bedbug bites. The room was filthy, and I’m not someone with high standards. There were spiderwebs all over, and the duvet had bloodstains. We weren’t given bedsheets.

I was sick and spent a lot of time at the hostel, which made me especially glad we’d found such a relaxed, comfortable place. There are several cozy spots to hang out alone or with other people, and the communal room across from the kitchen and lounge felt cozy, had privacy curtains, and was very clean. The Big K team were friendly and helpful, with island information and tips about Karimunjawa’s best gems available at the main desk. The atmosphere was lovely. Shout out to the whole Big K team and Miya🐈. Hope we get to see you again.
