Agung Suites Balangan Homestay

I paid $14 for the two of us, and the stay included a good range of food. The people were so nice, and our room was clean and really spacious. One of my favorite places I've stayed in Bali so far. I'd definitely suggest stopping here. Happy travels!

The pool and the view are lovely, and breakfast is fine. The room was clean and the bed comfortable, but the bathroom was a letdown: there was hardly any water pressure, so showering was difficult. It's quite remote, and you may have to wait a long time for a Grab or Gojek. A nice enough place if you're here to surf.

The nice parts were the comfortable bed, pleasant free breakfast, clean pool, pretty garden, and the cute dogs that come over to say hello. There's a restaurant beside the rooms for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, plus a shop for water and basics about 30 meters from Agung. The room had several problems. There were long and short hairs on the bedding, the towels smelled awful, and the bathroom could have been cleaner. The shower only had cold water, the drain smelled terrible when the water ran, and there were no bins. The pillows were worn out and flat. The mini flatscreen TV wasn't useful to us because we couldn't understand Bahasa. We were told to rent scooters at balangan beach. Those were the worst scooters in Bali. I can't stress enough that people reading this should NOT rent from balangan beach. They seemed to be written off scooters fixed up as much as possible, and tourists were being ripped off with scooters that weren't roadworthy.

The people I met here became dear friends, and it feels like home whenever I return for a few days. I spent 8 months at Agung Suites Balangen, drawn in by the garden and the view across Bukit Valley, which I enjoyed every morning during meditation. I surf a lot, and Balangan Beach is only a 2 minute ride away, with good waves most days. I went over 1-3 times a day. During my stay they built an outdoor kitchen and a small permaculture garden in front of the pool. Fresh tomatoes and greens from it often went into my lunch. It's a lovely place to connect with nature and yourself, practice Yoga or Meditation, wander around the garden, and cook dinner with other guests while listening to mixtapes and watching the purple-red sunset sky. There are small warungs nearby for food and drinks, and a short ride through the greenery gets you to local markets or supermarkets.
