Sujiwa Ubud Hotel & Villa

The rural setting is quiet and peaceful, but Ubud Central is 10kms away, so you’ll need to arrange transport if you want better dining options. Breakfast was okay for the price, and the reception and restaurant staff were polite. Still, I was disappointed with the standard of both rooms and especially the cleanliness. There was an overpowering musty smell, grime on the tiled floor, and the only mirror was in the bathroom, where it fogged up and had to be wiped dry. The toilet was unstable, not fixed securely, and set very close to the wall. With the open shower, water got onto the toilet and floor.

The setting is lovely and quiet, with beautiful views all around. Staff were friendly and quick to help, and our room was spacious and very clean. There’s also a large swimming pool and a restaurant on site. I’d happily recommend this beautiful hotel.

The pool was great, and the cafe/bar/working area is spacious with a lovely view. The place is quiet, though some guests kept slamming doors loudly. Service was excellent and they’d provided the amenities well, including an umbrella in my room. I enjoyed my stay at Sujiwa. The main annoyances were weak Wi-Fi on the second floor and a toilet placed strangely close to the wall, with only about 15cm of space, which was uncomfortable. There was also a funny smell at the bathroom edge, and the air freshener made it worse. Hopefully they can improve those things.

Rice fields surround the hotel, making it a peaceful place to relax and recharge. I spent two weeks here and had a wonderful time. It had only been open for a month, but the service was already top-notch. The staff paid close attention to every little request or comment and remembered to take care of it. It’s a hidden gem, and I highly recommend staying here.
