Spunky Premiere Kuta

The room was clean, and the staff were friendly. There was air conditioning and a guest pool, and you could rent a scooter. Some places to eat were close enough to walk to. One thing to know is that breakfast wasn’t as varied as the booking-site pictures suggested.

I liked how quiet the place was, and most of the staff were nice. You can rent a motorbike there, which is a plus. I booked through Airy and asked for a first-floor room overlooking the pool, but got a second-floor room instead. It wasn’t too bad, though I wondered why it wasn’t arranged like the first-floor rooms. Mine didn’t look like the one in the ad, while the first-floor one did. You have to ask for almost everything, which irritated me since there’s no phone in the room and I had to go down to the front desk. The breakfast wasn’t what you might expect unless you already know it’s sandwiches and coffee. It wasn’t bad, but it was usually late for my room, for some reason. The place still needs a lot of maintenance. I loved it anyway.

I booked and paid Spunky for one night, my first night in Bali, and told the hotel I’d arrive late. When I got there at midnight, nobody was available to check me in. I called every number I could find for help, but none connected. I waited an hour and still no one showed up. I went back to the hotel on each of the next two days, but still didn’t get a refund because the “manager” wasn’t there. I left my number and am still waiting for a call. When I called him once, he hung up on me. Very unreliable.

The place is cheap, but there are nicer options nearby at the same price. Staff seemed disinterested, and the property needs maintenance: the shower wouldn’t drain, the room door wouldn’t open all the way, and I had to ask for towels. Wi-Fi was very slow, it was noisy, and there wasn’t enough parking.
